Power Balance Bands!

Mr. Whipp,

My thoughts on the power balance bands are that they rely on the placebo effect to be effective in providing power and balance. This evidence is supported by several blind demonstrations upon which participants had the power chip and allegedly became stronger. However when fake power chip cards were given out the difference in power was not significantly different.

My hypothesis is that the band only works when people believe that the chip causes them to have more strength and balance. The way I would test this is by telling a majority of people who believe in the power chip to do a balance test while possessing a power chip in their pocket. Then conduct balance and strength tests on the participants and collect data. Then exchange the power chips with fake chips without participants knowing and reconduct the same tests then compare results. Then tell the participants to give up the fake power chips and conduct tests a third time then compare all results .

It is important to collect all sides of the issue so we can set up experiments in a way to answer all the issues on all sides.
